Planning for music video
The first song I could use to create my music video to Ed Sheeran – Small Bump. This is because the song has a slow rhythm to it and the lyrics can easily tell a story. However the fact the song is of a slow pace throughout minimises how creative I could be when producing my music video. For example; most of the camera shots I could employ would be prolonged and of a slow pace to compliment the music. This could therefore mean my music videos’ success would decrease as the video would be repetitive and may not keep the audience attracted to it. An example of this is shown in the music video itself. The main body of the music video is filmed with one continuous camera shot which is of Ed Sheeran sitting in a hospital waiting room. The camera moves around Ed as opposed to the reverse, and he is sat still as things happen around him. This therefore reduces the activity going on in the video and may lack appeal to certain fans of the song. On the other hand, the employment of a single shot is correlation to the pace of the song, allowing the music video to tell a story to the audience.
